I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to humans, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They will reply: 'We were not among those who prayed 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the Certain came to us.' -- 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
