Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives 39 That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight: 40 then he shall be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense, 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 And that it is He Who made (you) laugh and made (you) cry? 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 of a sperm-drop, when it was cast forth, 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 Thamud, 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 He plunged the villages 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 apart from God none can disclose it. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 While you are indulging in varieties. 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
