He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
