Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
