Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Surely We will make to light upon you a weighty Word. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 Lord of the East and Lord of the West – there is no God except Him, therefore make Him your sole Trustee of affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)? 17 The heavens itself will be rent asunder (on that day). His promise is bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
