And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 “The nation of Firaun; will they not fear?” 11 Moses replied, "My Lord, I fear they will reject me, 12 "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 He said: By no means, so go you both with Our signs; surely We are with you, hearing; 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 "And you did your deed, which you did (i.e. the crime of killing a man). And you are one of the ingrates." 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. But [since] then my Sustainer has endowed me with the ability to judge [between right and wrong,] and has made me one of [His] message-bearers. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 The Pharaoh asked: "And what is the Lord of all the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: "The Lord and Cherisher of the heavens and the earth, and all between,- if ye want to be quite sure." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients.' 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 He said: Even though I show thee something plain? 30 (Pharaoh) said: "Show it then, if thou tellest the truth!" 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 and he drew forth his hand - and lo! it appeared [shining] white to the beholders. 33
