And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 He abandoned his people 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and they believed in him: so We let them live in ease for a while. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 Or, did We create the angels females while they were witnessing? 150 It is only because of their false invention that they say, 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 What, and will you not remember? 155 Or do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if you speak truly! 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 God is far above what they attribute to Him, 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 "And we are truly those who stand in rows, 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 AND, INDEED, they [who deny the truth] have always been wont to say, 167 If we had the account of earlier people with us, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So you ignore them for a time 174 Watch them: they will soon see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
