Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 taking whatsoever their Lord has given them; they were good-doers before that. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hour of early dawn, they (were found) praying for Forgiveness; 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
