The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which splitteth (with the growth of trees and plants) 12 Indeed the Qur’an is a decisive Word. 13 it is no merriment. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
