The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour is drawing near, and the moon is split (in two). 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ The people of Noah had denied before them, and had called Our votary a liar, and said: "He is possessed," and repulsed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 for, how severe is the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
