The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he shall call for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
