Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 and place me among those who shall inherit the garden of bliss! 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 and do not disgrace me on the Day when all people are resurrected, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
