Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the manifest Book (this Quran) that makes things clear, 2 We revealed it on a Blessed Night, for We were intent on warning; 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 as a mercy from thy Lord (surely He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing) 6 the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them: if you would only have sure faith. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and makes to die; your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 WAIT, THEN, for the Day when the skies shall bring forth a pall of smoke which will make obvious [the approach of the Last Hour,] 10 Covering the people; this is a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 [But] how shall this remembrance avail them [at the Last Hour,] seeing that an apostle had previously come unto them, clearly expounding the truth, 13 Yet they turned away from him and said: one tutored, one distraced. 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ We did, before them, try the people of Pharaoh: there came to them a messenger most honourable, 17 Saying: restore to me the bondmen of Allah, verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 18 And saying exalt not yourselves against Allah; verily I have come unto you with an authority manifest. 19 "And truly, I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me (or call me a sorcerer or kill me). 20 And if you do not believe in me, then leave me alone. 21 And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk. 22 "Journey by night with My devotees," (it was said); "you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 How many were the gardens and springs they left behind, 25 sown fields, and how noble a station, 26 And favours amongst which they were rejoicing! 27 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. 28 Neither heaven nor earth shed tears for them; nor were they respited, 29

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
