The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it goes down, (or vanishes). 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 So will you dispute with him over what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 So did you observe the idols Lat and Uzza? 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 What, have you males, and He females? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
