Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim! 1 By the luminious Book. 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 As Mercy from thy Lord: for He hears and knows (all things); 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. 8 But they are in doubt, amusing themselves. 9 So wait thou the day whereon the heaven will bring forth a manifest smoke: 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 Lord, remove this torment from us for we are believers". 12 How can there be remembrance for them, when a messenger making plain (the Truth) had already come unto them, 13 But they turned away from him, and said: "He is well-instructed, (but) possessed." 14 We shall indeed remove the Penalty for a while, (but) truly ye will revert (to your ways). 15 On the Day when We shall seize you with the greatest grasp. Verily, We will exact retribution. 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 "And be not arrogant as against Allah: for I come to you with authority manifest. 19 And lo! I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord lest ye stone me to death. 20 If you do not believe in me, at least keep away from me." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: these are a people guilty. 22 (His Lord answered): 'Set out with My worshipers in the night, for you will surely be followed. 23 Cross the sea by cutting a path through it. Pharaoh's army will be drowned. 24 How many gardens and water-springs they left behind! 25 And cornfields and noble places! 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus (it was)! And We made other people inherit them (i.e. We made the Children of Israel to inherit the kingdom of Egypt). 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
