Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 They were unable even to stand up or protect themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
