The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion is not in error nor has he gone astray. 2 nor does he speak out of his desire. 3 It is a revelations which has been revealed to him 4 something that a very powerful one has imparted to him, 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 Till he was (distant) two bows' length or even nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 by the lote-tree of the farthest limit, 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 The sight [of the Prophet] did not swerve, nor did it transgress [its limit]. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatever he craves? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
