The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the books are spread, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 Oh, but I call to witness the planets, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
