▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
The people of Al-Hijr denied Our apostles; 80 And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them; 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 the blast overtook them early one morning. 83 And what they earned did not avail them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Your Lord is certainly the All-knowing Creator. 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). 88 And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner, 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 by your Lord, We shall question them all 92 for whatever they have done! 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 who assert that there are, side by side with God, other divine powers as well: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
