۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 "But stop them, verily they are to be questioned. 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness". 28 They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 “And you will not be compensated except for your deeds.” 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits. And they will be honoured 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 On thrones facing one another. 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them will be mates of modest gaze, most beautiful of eye, 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who would say: "Are you among the believers (of the resurrection)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 and says: "By God! Verily, thou hast almost destroyed me [too, O my erstwhile companion] 56 And but for the favour of my lord, I should have been of those brought forward. 57 What, do we then not die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And indeed most of the men of old went astray before them; 71 and We sent among them warners; 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
