The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
