He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
