This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that the learned among the Children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 (But such is their adamance) that had We revealed it to one of the non-Arabs and even if he had recited (this clear Arabic discourse) to them 198 they would still not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it to the extent that they see the painful punishment. 201 It will come upon them unawares, and they will not comprehend it. 202 They will say, "Can we be granted any respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Just think: If We let them enjoy (the good things of life) for a few years more, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 (How) that wherewith they were contented naught availeth them? 207 Never have We destroyed a town without sending down messengers to warn it, 208 for a reminder, and We never harmed. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Verily far from hearing are they removed. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you (O Muhammad SAW) when you stand up (alone at night for Tahajjud prayers). 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 hast thou not seen how they wander in every valley 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
