Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ By the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks: "When will be this Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the eye is bewildered, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 when the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 Upon that day the recourse shall be to thy Lord. 12 On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 MOVE NOT thy tongue in haste, [repeating the words of the revelation:] 16 Surely it is for Us to have you commit it to memory and to recite it. 17 Therefore when We have recited it, follow its recitation. 18 The exposition of its meaning surely rests on Us. 19 Nay, (ye men!) but ye love the fleeting life, 20 and leave be the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit), 26 and when it is asked: "Could any magician save him now?"; 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession. 30
