The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou enveloped! 1 arise and warn, 2 And your Lord glorify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 But for your Lord be patient. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into Hell-fire 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
