Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your fathers? 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 “And forgive my father* he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
