Hizb 46

Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 He ran away to the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 And the fish swallowed him while he was blameworthy; 142 And were he not one of those who praise. 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 Therefore you and all what you worship. (The disbelievers and their deities.) 161 Can mislead anyone away from Him, 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed; 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 and we glorify God". 166 What though they would say, 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that, verily, Our hosts - they indeed - would [in the end] be victorious! 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 and see them [for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 and watch. They, too, will watch. 179 Glory be to your Lord: the Lord of Glory is far above what they attribute to Him. 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
