The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 And he has already seen Gabriel in the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
