The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 that [which he conveys to you] is but [a divine] inspiration with which he is being inspired 4 and taught to him 5 One strong of make. Then he stood straight. 6 appearing in the horizon's loftiest part, 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 until he was but two bow-lengths away, or even nearer. 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 His heart did not lie of what he saw. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass: 14 nigh which is the Garden of the Refuge, 15 with the lote-tree veiled in a veil of nameless splendour 16 The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit. 17 Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Can ever man get what he desires? 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
