Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 By oath of this clear Book. 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 Whereon every wise command is made clear 4 By command, from Our Presence. For We (ever) send (revelations), 5 A mercy from thy Lord. Verily He! He is the Hearer, the Knower. 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye would be sure. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and makes to die; your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients. 8 yet, they toy with their doubts. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 How can there be an admonition unto them, when surely there came unto them an apostle manifest! 13 Then they turned away from him and said, "[He was] taught [and is] a madman." 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ We had certainly tested the people of the Pharaoh before them to whom a noble Messengers had come, saying, 17 Saying: Give up to me the slaves of Allah. Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you. 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 “And I take the refuge of my Lord and yours, against your stoning me.” 20 "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 They left how many gardens and fountains, 25 and cornfields and splendid buildings, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus it was. And [then] We made another people heirs [to what they had left,] 28 And neither heaven nor earth shed a tear over them: nor were they given a respite (again). 29
