Al-Najm 3 of 3
Hast thou considered him who turns his back 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his trust? -- 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his effort will be seen. 40 Then will he be rewarded with a reward complete; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and that He will bring about the Second Creation; 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius; 49 and that it is He who destroyed the ancient [tribes of] Ad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do you then wonder at this recital (the Quran)? 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
