The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
