The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 thy robes purify 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 It glows and burns the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
