At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We turned the town upside down and rained upon them stones of clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
