Nay, by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning for people -- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 "Nor we used to feed Al-Miskin (the poor); 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
