Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yea! We are able to make complete his very fingertips 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: “When will the Day of Resurrection be?” 6 But [on that Day,] when the eyesight is by fear confounded, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 By no means! No place of safety! 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 That Day will Man be told (all) that he put forward, and all that he put back. 13 But lo, man is well aware of himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Do not move your tongue with it to make haste with it, 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Some faces on that Day will be fresh and resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?" 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
