In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another 1 And the winds that blow violently 2 And those that revive by quickening, 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 To cut off all excuses or to warn; 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 So when the stars are obliterated 8 and the sky is rent asunder, 9 And when the mountains are blown away 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 To which Day has this task been deferred? 12 For the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false]! 13 And what do you know, what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe on that day unto the beliers 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 and then follow them with the later folk? 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 19 Did We not create you from a weak water, 20 and place it in a secure place 21 For a known calculated term. 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Have We not made the earth a receptacle? 25 For the living and the dead, 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 as black camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 nor shall they be permitted to offer excuses. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 that Day of Distinction [between the true and the false, when they will be told]: "We have brought you together with those [sinners] of olden times; 38 So if you have any ploy, try it against Me! 39 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 40
