Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Similarly, Pharaoh, and those before him, and the ruined villages, sinned 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 Verily I was sure that I would be handed over my account.” 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in an exalted garden 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Our wealth is of no benefit to us 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 [Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him. 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 nor any food save the filth 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
