The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Truly, this is the word brought by a noble messenger, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
