Have you heard the story of Abraham's honored guests? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear about them, and they said: 'Have no fear', and gave him the glad tidings that he was to have a knowledgeable son. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 That we may send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in the tribe of A’ad, when we sent a dry windstorm upon them. 41 It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins. 42 And in Thamood it was said to them: 'Take your enjoyment for awhile' 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
