The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven of the constellations! 1 And by oath of the Promised Day. 2 and [of] Him who witnesses [all,] and [of] that unto which witness is borne [by Him]! 3 slain were the Men of the Pit, 4 Of the fuel-fed fire, 5 when they were seated over it 6 And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. 9 Surely those who tormented the believing men and the believing women and then did not repent, theirs shall be the chastisement of Hell, and theirs shall be the chastisement of burning. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Indeed, the seizing of your Lord is severe. 12 Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 Master of the Honourable Throne. 15 Doer of what He will. 16 Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts 17 Pharaoh and Thamood? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 While Allah encompasses them from behind. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 On a guarded tablet. 22
