۞ "Bring ye up", it shall be said, "The wrong-doers and their wives, and the things they worshipped- 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no power over you. In fact, you were a people rebellious. 30 Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom). 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 Thus do We treat the culprits. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Aye! he hath come with the truth, and he confesseth to the sent ones. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save single-minded slaves of Allah; 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits; and they will be honoured. 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 On thrones, facing each other. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Except our previous death? And we shall not be chastised? 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 yet before them most of the ancients went astray, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 Look, then how was the end of those who had been warned, 73 Except the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 74
