The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
