So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or do they say:- "A Poet! we await for him some calamity (hatched) by Time!" 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Do their minds command them to do this, or are they an outrageous folk? 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 Then let them produce speech the like thereof, if they are truthful. 34 Have they been created from nothing or are they themselves their own creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord? Or are they the treasurers? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 What! The daughters for Him, and the sons for you? 39 Or is it that thou dost ask for a reward, so that they are burdened with a load of debt?- 40 Or have they the unseen so that they write (it) down? 41 Or do they intend a plot (against thee)? But those who defy Allah are themselves involved in a Plot! 42 Or have they a god, other than God? Glory be to God, above that which they associate! 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 Therefore leave them, until they confront their day, in which they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their plotting will avail them nothing and no help shall be given them. 46 And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise. 48 and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars. 49
