The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
