The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn! 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 And children to be by his side! 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
