The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 The Byzantines have been defeated 2 In the nearby land, and after their defeat they will soon be victorious. 3 within a few years: [for] with God rests all power of decision, first and last. And on that day will the believers [too, have cause to] rejoice 4 in God's help; God helps whomsoever He will; and He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 5 (This is) Allah's promise! Allah will not fail His promise, but most people do not know. 6 They know what is apparent of the worldly life, but they, of the Hereafter, are unaware. 7 Do they not reflect in their own minds? Not but for just ends and for a term appointed, did Allah create the heavens and the earth, and all between them: yet are there truly many among men who deny the meeting with their Lord (at the Resurrection)! 8 Have they not travelled through the land to see how terrible was the end of the people who lived before them. The people who lived before them were stronger than them in might, in tilling, and in developing the earth. Our Messengers came to them with clear miracles. God did not do an injustice to them but they wronged themselves. 9 And once again: evil is bound to be the end of those who do evil by giving the lie to God's messages and deriding them. 10
