The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
