Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
