Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 (Allah) said: "Respite is granted thee 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 Iblis said: "My Lord! In the manner You led me to error, I will make things on earth seem attractive to them and lead all of them to error, 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
